This is my opening post at my new blog, and I'll just explain the name.
Venison Tickle: Historic Community on the south coast of Labrador, Newfoundland and Labrador. This is a place where my grandparents met, where my grandfather was born, where my great-grandmother (of Innu descent from Pakuashipi Quebec) met my great-grandfather (himself of mixed race with Labrador Inuit and Newfoundland settler roots).
I am 'Métis to the bone' as some of my fellow Labrador Métis brethren like to say, and believe that some day, like Newfoundland and Labrador, we shall overcome. Some day, we will be recognized for our legitimate first-nations' status claims.
